Domaine Kitani Nara Rouge 2024 Pinot

Price: ¥10,000
Red wine, 750ml, alc 12.7%, primarily Pinot Noir from our own vineyard in Tenri City, Nara Prefecture, synthetic cork (wax seal), sulfites added, chaptalized, approximately 180 bottles produced. 2024 was a good vintage for western Japan, with little rain during the summer. The aroma clearly expresses the individuality of Pinot Noir. This wine uses Pinot Noir planted in our Tenri vineyard in 2018. We were able to confirm that Pinot Noir grows reasonably well in Nara as well. However, I am confident that we can make it even more delicious and have new ideas. I will do my best. The grapes were hand-destemmed during sorting. We harvested what could be sorted in a day and processed it over several days. Towards the end, quite a few slightly shriveled, dehydrated grapes were mixed in. Healthy bunches were put directly into the tank. Aromas of red fruits like currants and raspberries, orange, cinnamon, vanilla, and oriental notes like sandalwood incense. The taste has a slight earthiness. A positive, subtle acidity. Winemakers and sommeliers who tasted the wine before its release praised it as being like Gevrey-Chambertin. The power and earthiness are like Gevrey-Chambertin, the red fruits and orange like Vosne-Romanée, and the nuances of incense and sandalwood and smoothness are like Nara – it contains elements characteristic of each of these regions. In Burgundy terms, I believe it's of a quality between a good regional and a village-level wine. It's certainly not Premier Cru, but I think it's a good wine. It's drinkable now, but it should be fine to age for 10 years. We will age most of it at the winery, but we are releasing a small amount this time.
